I was ordering macdonalds this afternoon for lunch and wanted to grab a bite at the Mega Prosperity Burger. I was so hungry at that time, so i went to my nearby macdonalds to make the order. I have noticed to a certain extent, in which i get increasingly annoyed when i come across such service. And that kind of service is the unrelentless drive to make you mad by cutting you in while you try to finish making your order.
Now i know, that you may have been trained to be efficient and fast to take down customers’ orders, especially when you are working in a fast food chain, but for heaven’s sake, stop cutting me in while im saying out my orders!
“Id like to have 1 mega prosperity burger, change the…”
“Upsize sir?”
“No, (smile) Change the drink to ice-lemon tea, havin…”
“Curly fries sir?”
“No thanks, having here.”
“Thats all?”
“Err… yes, thats..”
“Any apple pies to go with it?”
“No, having here, and thats all.”
To whoever is out there serving some fast food to some customers, please please please listen to your customers and wait for them to finish before offering anything else.

Super duper big fan of Utada Hikaru! I swear if she comes to singapore for a concert tour, I will definitely go to her concert no matter what the cost!
PRESS RELEASE:
UTADA TO UNVEIL NEW SINGLE “COME BACK TO ME”
(January 21 -New York, NY) In the small world of pop artists who write their own music enters the big voice of artist/songwriter Utada who is set to reveal her new single “Come Back to Me” this month. Utada, already one of the world’s biggest recording artists, will release her new album on March 24, 2009 on The Island Def Jam Music Group.
“Come Back to Me”, the soulful yet energetic ballad produced by the hitmaking team Stargate (Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Beyonce), will officially debut on pop radio on February 9th and will be available via iTunes. The sparkling, mid-tempo hit showcases the 26-year-old singer’s powerful husky-sweet vocals and natural effervescence, placing her indisputably into the landscape with major female artists like Madonna, Beyonce, Rihanna and Mariah Carey.
Utada’s forthcoming album is comprised of 10 self-penned songs recorded with top producers Stargate and Tricky (Britney Spears, Madonna, Mariah Carey). Recording took place in New York, Atlanta and Tokyo.
On creating the album Utada comments, “I like to make music that’s mutli-layered. You might just want to dance, without really diving into the lyrics. And then if you like words, you might notice the references I make to Captain Picard or Winona Ryder. Both things are equally important to me—to be catchy, so when you hear it on the radio it sticks out, and to have that depth. “
Producer Stargate comments, “Working with Utada was great. She walks in, has confidence about her, integrity, and a voice that you can’t believe. We were really blown away.”
Born and raised in Manhattan and educated at Columbia University, Hikaru Utada had strong ties to Japan as her father, Utada Teruzane, was an accomplished musician and producer and her mother, Keiko Fuji, was a successful Japanese enka (ballad) singer. With such a musically prolific family, Utada would reside between New York City and Tokyo and the recording studio literally became her second home. By age 11, Utada had written and recorded her first song. By the time she graduated from junior high school, the bi-lingual singer had signed onto a major record label EMI and released her first Japanese album. With a number of album and single releases over the last ten years in Japan, the young star has become one of the most successful and acclaimed pop singers in Japanese music history with record sales of over 52 million.
Ive said this so many times now, but im gonna say it once more. I love my ipod touch. It has given me the opportunity to catch up on my favourite anime series, tv series and movies that i so desperately wanted to watch. Not only that, the portability of the ipod touch gives me the opportunity to watch it anyway, anytime. In camp, after office hours, id lean back comfortably on my bed, watching the latest episode of Heroes, or Naruto, enjoying every moment of it.
This past month alone, ive watched numerous episodes and movies like Slumdog Millionaire, The Wrestler, Across the Universe, City of Ember, 21, House Bunny, Bolt. Im sure there will be lots more to come and dont even make me start on Tv series. Im watching Heroes and plan to include The Tudors, Supernaturals, The Office, True Blood. Maybe if i have the time and patience, ill restart watching Lost from the very begining and maybe catch up on Gossip Girls and many more.
Naruto, Bleach and tons of animes ill be watching in the future. Ipod touch has given me a whole new avenue in entertainment and its truly worth the 500 bucks that i plunged into in the purchase.
After watching Slumdog Millionaire, i kept wondering to myself: When was the last time that i actually watched a genuinely great movie? A movie that not only entertains you, but also enriches your soul, touches your heart and had a lasting and memorable impact in the days to come. The only movie that i can come up recently is The Pianist, and that was in 2002, directed by Academy Award winner, Roman Polansky and starring Academy Award actor, Adrien Brody.
To those out there, i must really recommend it to you to watch Slumdog Millionaire. I dont care how you get the film, but in the end you must watch it and hopefully when the dvd comes out go buy it!
This is the movie, that will really touch your soul and enriches your heart. It is full of humour, sadness and everything in between. It has strong messages about hope, hopelessness, perserverance, change, love, friendship, loyalty and human survival. If you are still a skeptic, search through wikipedia about this movie and look at the awards that they have recieved. There is so many that there is a page in wikipedia dedicated to the awards listings for the movie itself. Its nominated for the biggest prize in this year’s Academy Award, Best Picture.
Got my Braun Buffel wallet today. So psyched about it. Lovin it right now. Nuff said… oh yeah and the pics of my ipod too. Man im spending too much these days…. SGD489 for the ipod and SGD109 for the wallet. What a bomb!
I had a blast tonight. Me a group of my friends went to this really cool place called Timbre @ The Substation. Its near Fort Canning and it had great place to chill, eat great food and listen to wonderful live music.
I havent been to the place before but ive heard of it. So my friend invited me to go earlier this week and we decided to meet up over at 8pm. By the time i reached there, a friend of mine was already queuing up for the seats and good timing too coz it was jam packed by the time we arrived. Luckily when i came, he already booked the tables and we just had to saunter our way in. The relative position of the tables to the main stage were great. We could see the live band in plain view. We ordered really good food like:
3 large pizzas, one was duck meat, the other was beef and onion and one spicy jalapeno or something like that
1 large plate of calamari rings,
4 baskets of fries
1 large plate of fried chicken wings
1 large plate of rodeo chicken wings served in spicy sweey and sour.
a host of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic.
The food was great. The pizza tasted better than i anticipated. I heard that the pizzas were great but i never expected to be this good. It was those thin crust pizzas and i loved all the flavors that we ordered. The rodeo wings were a treat too. By the time we finished everthing, we still had 2 unfinished basket of fries. We were full to the brim.
The live band was a pleasant surprise. It started playing around 10.30 in the evening and it was really good. The band was called “The Goodfellas” and they played really well. They played cover songs of Guns N Roses, Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and more, all requested by the audiences down below. They really took up the challenge of playing the songs according to the requests made by us and they played it well. I had a great time there with all my NS friends, present and those ORDed already. I seriously dont mind going there again to enjoy the atmosphere and the live music, but i was just thinking how long the queue was just waiting for the seats even at 1am in the morning when we left. It must take sheer will and determination with a generous serving of patience to be there an hour earlier than us just to reserve the tables. But in the end it was all worth it.
I dont have the photos with me but i will post it up soon once i get it transfered from my friends camera. So stay tuned.

I’ve been having fever for the past few days. It’s gone for day and then it flares up again. I dunno what causes it because I did not visit the doctor at all. Instead I depended on my previous medication. I took anarex pills to relieve me of the fever and it had worked wonders. Last night I had the best nights rest ever. I took a 2 anarex pills on the evening and went to bed at around 9 pm. I slept damn well without any interruptions till 6 am. When I woke up I felt so fresh! Getting a good nights rest on my bunk is rare. Often I would wake up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. So far I have been fine with no relapse of the fever that I had been getting for the past few week. I guess I need more rest to fully recuperate.
So i decided to do some accelerated reading, meaning to read a little more than my average reading pace. I started spending more of my free time catching up on my reading. During the holidays, i bought a lot more books to occupy myself. But wanting something different this time around, i tried picking up a different book. The book that has been lying around in one of the bookshelf in the house, having read by both my parents. The book that would ultimately be in my reading list, but further down the list of must-read books.
This book jumped the queue, i picked it up and started reading it. Its none other than the already famous Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code. I decided to read the first 50 pages to see how it goes and my god its extremely engrossing and thrilling!! Damn myself for not picking it up earlier! I was soo hooked to this book that i devoured it in a couple of days.
I watched the movie and found it to be very poorly executed. Its a bad reflection to the popular novel that has sold millions. But that doesnt really derail me from actually picking it up and reading it. I knew of the hype, the controversy and the thrilling mystery about the novel and its rich cultural and historical references to it. But i had no idea that the thrilling parts of the book, its twists and turns happened to encompass not just a few chapters, but the entire book, from start to finish! Incredibly, its easy to read, easier than i thought despite the fact that it had a lot of jargon, references to arts, relics and culture. One would easily dismiss it as a tough book to read, because of the fact that it would be very difficult to visualise the arts references heavily used to tell the tale of the plot. But astoundingly, Dan Brown has written very well for a casual reader, who might not be very versed in the world of the arts. At the same time, Dan Brown doesnt go to great lengths to describe something to the reader, but rather sufficient enough so that the reader understands and at the same time, pique the interest of the reader. There were several instances throughout the book where Wikipedia was my best friend. Looking up and searching for a particular art or culture used in the plot and understanding it in greater detail through wikipedia.
Dan Brown has authored a very good book and at the same time created a alot of controversy within the religious community, which i understood very little till now. The fact that he used actual historical references to create a fiction, really does ignite the flames of conspiracy and makes you wonder alot about the alternative, if it were to happen…
So after finishing The Da Vinci Code, i decided to read Angels and Demons, and it was even better!! More action, faster pace and even more intruiging and thrilling plot. I personally prefer Angels and Demons because its more thrilling than The Da Vinci Code. While The Da Vinci Code focuses more on the symbology, the arts and culture, Angels and Demons focuses more on history and the dark secret society called “The Illuminati” against the mighty Vatican. It has twists and turns in the plot and was done wonderfully. From the first chapter of the book, it sets the reader glued to the book with a lot of mysteries being presented right from the begining.
Im about to start reading Deception Point and i hope it would be as thrilling as the first two books that i have read. Everyone should read Dan Brown’s books. Despite the controversy, just read it for the sake of entertainment.
I cant wait for the upcoming adaptation of Angels and Demons. Tom Hanks will play the same role as Robert Langdon and will be released in May 2009. You can watch the trailer below.
