Slumdog millionaire bagged the most number of oscar awards in this year’s 81st academy award ceremony held just this morning. Having won 8 out of 10 nominations sealed slumdog millionaire’s fate as this years best films ever made. Here are the categories in which they have won:

I was surprised in having them won best sound mixing and best sound editing. They had many other powerful contenders for that categories like “Wanted” and “Dark Knight”. Best film editing had powerful competitors too such as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and again “Dark Knight

Those of you who havent watch the film must make it a date to watch this truly phenomenal ‘feel good movie’.

Feeling lost, losing my way.

Sometimes, you often times wonder and look at yourself in the mirror, and all you see are the flaws within you. Noone is perfect, yet the flaws presents itself in such ways that you cannot hide from the truth. You see other people, your friends, your family, their traits, their strength and you often wished how you could be like them in some small ways. You sometime tell yourself, ‘how i could be as confident as he is’ or ‘how i could have a higher self esteem that she is having right now’. And when you look at yourself, it is very difficult to see your strengths that other people would hope to have that they dont. All you see are your weaknesses.

I once came across a scene in this anime, “Honey and Clover” and one of the main character was saying something along the lines of:

“Sometimes you avoid someone, because that someone is an exact opposite mirror image of who you hoped to be, and facing that person is a very scary experience. It is a reflection of your weaknesses”

Changeling

I watched Changeling this week and Angelina Jolie has put up a stellar performance.

CHANGELING
.

Changeling is a period movie directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Angelina Jolie. It tells of a true story of the infamous Wineville Chicken Coop Murder, where numerous children were brutally murdered by Gordon Northcott. It also touches heavily on various themes such as disempowerment of women, police corruption, and violent acts, especially against children. However this tale concentrates on a mother’s unrelenting quest to find her one and only son after being kidnapped and not seen for many months afterwards.

Angelina Jolie, who acted as Christine Collins put up a wonderful performance in the movie. I was so mesmorized by her acting performance as a single, hopeful, unrelentling mother in her quest to find her son and despite the films duration stretching to 2 and half hour, i enjoyed every minute of it. Its not every time you see Angelina Jolie, playing a role of a mother and a role in which she excels in almost every way.

You have often seen her in action movie, shooting guns, cursing, and doing stuff men usually do, but wait till you see this and you will soon appreciate the high caliber of her acting. You will soon come to know what great acting is. While she isnt perfect, but you can see that she has put all her best to portray her role in the movie. And her best is what shines in the movie. You will see her in an emotional roller coaster ride, beating great odds in finding true justice over the outcome of her missing child, rooting out corruption in the justice department and seeking justice over the murders.

The movie has been nominated for the 81st Academy Awards in 3 categories:

Best Actress in a leading role: Angelina Jolie

Best Art Direction

Best Cinematography

Fans of Angelina Jolie or any artsy Oscar material films must watch this movie. You will not be dissapointed.
